CLUB HISTORY

Welcome to the Southern California Viking Club. The club was started in 1986 with the idea that there must be other loyal Vikings fans out there that feel as strongly about the team as I do. NFL Hall Of Fame Award winner Ron Yary (and seven times All-Pro) was the guiding hand that helped our club get started. Without his help there would be no Southern California Viking Club. The goals and objectives of our club are quite simple and they are outlined in our CODE OF CONDUCT. We want club members who bleed "Viking Purple." We do not want front runners in our club. We are a Viking family and we stick by our Vikings win or lose.

We started the club with just eight members and now we have members all across the country and Canada. We mail out a newsletter every two weeks during the football season and once a month during the off season. We have a WEB SITE which also has the newsletter, club pictures, club activities, and much more. All available club members get together and watch the games on satellite dish. Your yearly membership dues go toward the cost of printing and mailing the newsletter. In addition, it covers the cost of the club awards and gives each member the right to vote for these awards. Our awards are the following: The Purple and Gold Award (presented to the coach of your choice), the Purple Helmet Award (presented to the defensive player of your choice), the Purple Jersey Award (presented to the offensive player of your choice), and the Southern California Hall of Fame Award (this one goes to the player or coach of your choice who has retired), and the Jim Smith Viking Club Service Award (presented to the club member that supports the club). You will also receive club discounts on Vikings merchandise through club sponsored stores. Your membership covers your entire family (spouse and all minor children up to age 18) for one year, July to July. As you can see, your membership dues go a long way.

We are always looking for ideas and ways to make our club better, so if you have any suggestions, we would like to hear about them. The club is open to everyone; there is no age limit. The club is a non-profit club and run by all volunteers. We ask only that you abide by the CODE OF CONDUCT.
Go Vikes,
